The Trainers
Gurucharan Singh Khalsa
GURUCHARAN SINGH KHALSA, Ph.D., LPCC, is
an expert in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan,
and has been his interpreter and compiler of his
teachings since 1969. Dr. Khalsa combines Western
scientific training with Eastern traditions to develop
practical approaches to personal growth and fulfillment.
His first degrees and graduate studies were from Harvey
Mudd College and Claremont Graduate School. His major
emphasis was in mathematics, with a broad training in
physics, chemistry, engineering and a minor in
psychology. Later Dr. Khalsa earned both an M.Ed. at
Boston University and a Ph.D. in psychology with an
emphasis on research in meditation and clinical
counseling. He has a keen understanding of Humanology,
the psychology of personal excellence developed by Yogi
Bhajan, and has used it in clinical practice for three
decades as well as developed trainings in Humanology for
therapists and healers.
Dr. Khalsa is currently the Director of
Training for the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI)
which he co-founded in 1972. He leads the development of
international training programs for teachers in
Kundalini Yoga and the research and applications of
meditative and yoga techniques to help people deal with
happiness, stress, diabesity (diabetes and obesity),
positive lifestyles and emotional vitality. He is an
expert in Kundalini Yoga, Humanology, and awakening
human potential and intuition. He instructed in yoga and
wellness psychology at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology for more than 15 years and established
wellness programs in universities and clinics
internationally.
Nirvair Singh
Khalsa
Nirvair Singh has studied with Yogi
Bhajan since 1970. He is a retired university
instructor. He taught classes in Kundalini Yoga at the
University of Alaska Anchorage for 30 years. Since his
retirement from the University has become the Managing
Director of the Kundalini Research Institute. He has
authored nineteen DVD's/Videos and four books on
Kundalini Yoga. He lives with his family in Anchorage
and Espanola and is the Co-director of the Kundalini
Yoga Center of Alaska.
Gurmukh is the co-founder and director of
Golden Bridge Nite Moon, Los Angeles'
premier center for the study and practice of
Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. Since being
baptized 35 years ago with the Sikh
spiritual name meaning "One who helps people
across the world ocean," Gurmukh has
dedicated her life to fulfilling her
namesake. For nearly three decades, students
in Los Angeles and from around the world
have sought out her classes in Kundalini
Yoga, meditation, and pre-and post-natal
care. She has been married for 22 years to
Gurushabd and has a 22-year-old daughter who
also lives in Los Angeles.
GuruMeher Singh Khalsa began
studying under Yogi Bhajan in 1981, and has
been teaching Kundalini Yoga ever since. He
is the Director of Teacher Training at Yoga
West, Yogi Bhajan’s original studio in Los
Angeles, travels internationally to train
teachers in Level One and Two programs, and
works with the Aquarian Academy to train the
next generation of teacher trainers. As a
professional Life Coach, he helps people
identify and transform personal blocks to
their happiness and fulfillment, and as a
public speaker introduces non-yogic
audiences to body-mind-spirit training.
Born and raised in Los
Angeles, Krishna Kaur has been teaching the
art of Kundalini Yoga and Self Awareness to
the Greater Los Angeles community since
1970. She is a natural teacher who has
shared the art and science of yoga with
therapists, entertainers, executives,
students, at-risk youth, teachers, seniors,
pregnant mothers, inmates and drug
rehabilitation clients. She is the founder
of Your Own Greatness Affirmed (Y.O.G.A.
Inc), Inc., which is a nonprofit, tax-exempt
organization dedicated to establishing
Yoga-based programs in underserved
communities around the world. YOGA For Youth
is a Y.O.G.A., Inc program that, while
serving all youth, is focused primarily on
"at risk" and incarcerated youth. Through
the YOGA For Youth program, consisting of
Yoga exercises, breathing, meditation, and
singing, the young people are given
practical tools to enrich their lives in the
present and future. She is also the founder
of the International Association of Black
Yoga Teachers, which offers classes
throughout the community, takes the YOGA For
Youth program into the detention camps, and
sponsors a Festival of Yoga and Music in
Cuba.
For more than 36 years,
Gurutej has been teaching people how to
connect to their higher consciousness
through yoga, chanting, meditation and
healing. As one of Yogi Bhajan’s original
students, Gurutej emerged as a founding
practitioner of Kundalini Yoga. In 1970,
Gurutej co-founded 3HO Canada and over the
next 20 years helped to establish 3HO
throughout Canada. Since then, she’s become
an author, artist, healer, teacher and
mother; she’s known for her Chakra series of
DVDs and more recently, as co-founder of
Golden Bridge in Los Angeles. Everyday she
lives the meaning of her Sikh name, which
translates as “the one who brings you from
darkness into light at the speed of light.” |
